چکیده

In this paper we propose a method for variational segmentation and contour matching of non-rigid objects in image sequences which can deal with the occlusions. The method is based on a region-based active contour model of the Chan-Vese, augmented with a frame-to-frame interaction term which uses the segmentation result from the previous frame as a shape prior. This method has given good results despite the presence of minor occlusions, but can not handle significant occlusions. We have extended this approach by adding a registration step between two consecutive contours. This registration step is based on a novel variational formulation and gives also a mapping of the intensities from the interior of the previous contour to the next. With this information occlusions can be detected from deviations from predicted intensities and the missing intensities in the occluded areas can then be reconstructed. The performance of the method is shown with experiments on synthetic and real image sequences.

Parametric active contours for object tracking based on matching degree image of object contour points

A parametric active contour model is presented for object tracking based on matching degree image of object contour points. We first construct a matching degree image according to object contour points, and track the object using parametric active contours. This paper presents a new feature matching approach and a new directional filter. Assuming that the motion of objects is small in this pape...

Moving Objects Segmentation Using Optical Flow Estimation

In this paper, we present a new method for the segmentation of moving objects. We use one of the most powerful variational method for computing the optical flow and we exploit this information in the segmentation. This segmentation lies on well-known techniques of active contours. Since we can distinguish moving objects from static elements of a scene by analyzing norm of the optical flow vecto...

A Bayesian Approach to Object Contour Tracking Using Level Sets

High level vision tasks (recognition, understanding, etc.) for video processing require tracking of the complete contour of the objects. In general, objects undergo non-rigid deformations, which limit the applicability of using motion models (e.g. affine, projective) that impose rigidity constraints on the objects. In this paper, we propose a contour tracking algorithm for video captured from m...

A Variational PDE Based Level Set Method for a Simultaneous Segmentation and Non-rigid Registration

A new variational PDE based level set method for a simultaneous image segmentation and non-rigid registration using prior shape and intensity information is presented. The segmentation is obtained by finding a non-rigid registration to the prior shape. The non-rigid registration consists of both a global rigid transformation and a local non-rigid deformation. In this model, a prior shape is use...

Using a Novel Concept of Potential Pixel Energy for Object Tracking

Abstract   In this paper, we propose a new method for kernel based object tracking which tracks the complete non rigid object. Definition the union image blob and mapping it to a new representation which we named as potential pixels matrix are the main part of tracking algorithm. The union image blob is constructed by expanding the previous object region based on the histogram feature. The pote...
